3D printing – will definitly have an impact
Posted on November 18, 2011 by Peter Fransson
I have been reading and following a lot of discussions on how fast 3D printing is evolving and I definitly think that this technology will make a big difference for the future.
Imagine a scenario when we don’t have to ship spareparts, just send the 3D model and print the part locally – amazing.
We have started a LinkedIn group to discuss this and other near-future technologies, please join and feel free to express yourself and discuss emerging IT Technologies.

Parts prinitng at factories is a good outlook.
But food print in kitchen, no way, enjoy fresh products !
I can see some practical uses as our vehicles become “smarter”. I can imagine a world where the vehicle automatically schedules maintenance or repair based on the severity of the error code sensed within the vehicle and based on any needed parts, tells the respective / scheduled dealership what parts to create. In an extreme environment (move to an Ocean Race environment or network where dealers are not nearby), the printer would be on-board with the schematics to create the needed part with proper installation instructions for road-side or in-environment repair.
