I can see some practical uses as our vehicles become "smarter". I can imagine a world where the vehicle automatically schedules maintenance or repair based on the severity of the error code sensed within the vehicle and based on any needed parts, tells the respective / scheduled dealership what parts to create. In an extreme environment (move to an Ocean Race environment or network where dealers are not nearby), the printer would be on-board with the schematics to create the needed part with proper installation instructions for road-side or in-environment repair.
Another explanation: http://www.economist.com/node/18114327

I am howerver in agreement, we should leave food out of this :)

Hmm,
While i do enjoy the storytelling and even more so the person behind it i would also suggest that there are some critical thinking in relation to dreaming about life in the cloud.

What incentives are there for a corporation that has a slogan to 'Do evil' for not changing their minds and build business models with atleast partially violates personal integrity, freedom of expression and...

A great way to remain with perspectives is to do like your son JP, avoid doing what everybody else is doing. At the same time, as Basho guides:
Do not follow
in the footsteps of the wise
Seek what they sought

Thanks for great blog!

Interesting conversation, and cool narration through story telling approach. I certainly agree with you that we feel "older" when we see things around us in the technology world where youngsters are more futuristic thinkers as it is the casual life. I did have a reality check when I saw 6 year old daughter of my colleague in US was asking Siri to find out the best Indian restaurants and giving direction to that hotel to her father..!!

Thanks for sharing Sandra!

Here is another good piece to share experiences, it came to me thanks to Hans Rosling and is by Bill Gates at (see video too www.thegatesnotes.com/Topics/Development/Development-with-Impact-Innovation-and-Partnerships ) "Climate change has gradually shifted from a trend that only experts worried about to a very real issue for governments and their citizens. That’s a positive development. However, the world still hasn’t made the kinds of investments it is going to take to address climate change. We finally understand the problem, but we aren’t yet committed to the solution.

Innovation will be transformative when it comes to climate change and energy, but so far the world has been distracted from what counts on this issue in a dangerous way."

Transportation plays a large role, sustainable transportation solutions are the vision for delivering a positive climate change. Everyone can contribute with a step and there are direct gains for health, wealth and a better planet www.CommuteGreener.com and like www.facebook.com/CommuteGreener

Live the vision. Be a driving force :-)
