New Roles for IT

IT community in general

The IT area is expanding all the time. We include more and more in the term IT. At some point this must be “collapsed”.

We can suspect that parts of what we now define as IT will be closer to core business.

IT skilled people will increasingly be included into innovation teams, R&D and product development  (Gartner)

The CIO role

This also of course reflects changed role of the CIO. More closely related to core business. Maybe even bonus for how much return the CIO brings in. The complete IT budget will in a scenario like this not be concentrated to a CIO function. Compare with the HR function that can’t control all the HR budget in the company.
